The job search process can often be disheartening, as applicants encounter various obstacles on the path to finding their dream job. Job-Hunt and FlexJobs have identified some of the issues that disappoint job seekers the most.

1. Lack of Employer Response

“Ghosting” during the job search process is a common occurrence, and submitting applications without receiving a response can be disheartening.

2. Low Pay

Forty-two percent of job seekers stated that they are disappointed with low-paying jobs. It’s important to remember that if you lack experience and the employer is uncertain about your qualifications, it’s fair for them to offer less than other candidates. Additionally, keep in mind that salary is just one part of the job offer.

3. Excessive Job Requirements

Almost 40% of job seekers mentioned that they are bothered when job postings list a set of qualifications or degrees that may not impact the candidate’s ability to perform the job.

4. Employment Scams

Unfortunately, not every job posting is truthful, as there are also scammers in the job market. If a job vacancy raises doubts or sounds too good to be true, try gathering more information about the company or recruiter, or simply decline the opportunity.

5. Lengthy Resume Review Process

The process of reviewing job applications can be lengthy, causing frustration for many applicants, but sometimes there’s little that can be done about it.
